Stay Classic #1

Just returned from Hot Rhythm Holiday in Austin, TX a few days ago. It was a unique experience for me for a number of reasons: it was the first event Mimi and I have ever been invited to, and it was the first event, at least in a very long time, where our experience wasn't defined entirely by the dancing but by experiencing the city.

I chatted with Bobby White a little and mentioned I wanted to try my hand at a bit of fashion photography. He and several others collaborate on the site Swing Dandies, which collects wonderful photos of dancers in excellent fashion. Unfortunately, the site hasn't been updated in a little while. I sent a picture over to Bobby to see if it would work for his site, but in the meantime, hey! Why don't I put up some fashion shots here, too?

That being said. Welcome! The first installment of Stay Classic, a new photo project on people with an old school kind of cool. I kick it off with Mimi.

Mimi found the dress during our second annual trip to Amelia's, a fantastic vintage shop in Austin. I've had very good luck there--I walked away with a legit 40's suit.

I'm in love with the floral design of the dress. Mimi's always looked fantastic in pink--it's her favorite color after all. But perhaps the thing that makes this outfit pop the most is the kitty tights she's wearing.
